Rationale & Objectives

The Government has recognized the need to develop skills and adopt international best practices to increase Sri Lanka’s competitiveness and improve the employable of its workforce locally and internationally.
For this purpose the Government has planned to establish Colleges of Technology (CoTs) and thereby increase the intake and output of TEVT institutions and upgrade TEVT personnel’s knowledge and skills and provide alternative higher education.

In this context, objective of forming Advisory Councils (AC) is to obtain expert advices on the activities and functions of the CoT and thereby support the development of market responsive TEVT to reduce high youth unemployment and develop high-level human resources to achieve skilled based competitiveness in the country.
